From Growing Up Gifted to Gifted Grown-Up: Gifted Adults Reflect on Their Experiences Most of the discussion about giftedness and multi-exceptionality focuses on the needs and challenges of children and adolescents. But what happens when those children and adolescents become adults – or, as Stephanie Tolan calls them, “gifted ex-children"? How do they perceive their childhood and adolescent experiences, and how do those experiences affect them? And how does their giftedness or multi-exceptionality affect their adult lives? In this panel, four adults who were identified as gifted or multi-exceptional as children look back on their experiences growing up and share their experiences as adults. This discussion will be of interest to those who support gifted and multi-exceptional children, as well as to those who are now gifted and multi-exceptional grown-ups.
